Set a new family record...

Well, today Zach got sent to the principal. None of my siblings have been to the principals office (at least not in GRADE school) nor have any of their children. So we win first prize for THAT! What did he do? Well, his interpreter wanted him to write words and he wanted to play on the computer. She said "no" and...he cussed at her in Russian. Makes Tom and I wonder if either of the boys have done that to us without us knowing...because they have been PLENTY ticked off at us!

Then, to follow up on his bad day, he decided not to listen to grandpa on the walk home from school. He crossed the street WITHOUT him (Highway 1 - not a major highway, but a highway nonetheless!). He didn't stop when he was asked, he didn't wait. He did not LISTEN at all.

And why did he do any of this...well, guess what his answer was. The age-old and timeless typical response of "I don't know." I am sure he didn't know. But what amazes me is did he think no one would tell us? So, he had a 20 minute time-out and no TV or video tonight. And I got to say the words, "Wait until your father gets home..." Which of course he didn't understand, but I said them anyway.

Well, we KNEW he was a little IMP when we got him, didn't we?! Hope we can get his attitude under control! Yeesh.

papa talked to him at the dinner table (with grandpa present) and told him he HAS to listen to grandpa. And I asked him about school tomorrow and he said "Yah znyoo - zaftra nee director..." which would be, "I know - tomorrow no principal..." He was very well behaved all night. Go figure. He must have know that he better not burn anymore bridges!

This is SO much fun!

Well Lois from experience...LOL there is always one child in every family who seems to test you the most. Mine was Joe, Of course..LOL I can look back now and kinda laugh sometimes, but I know just how you feel. One day this week I was listening to Dr. Dobson on our local Christian radio station and he was talking about the trials of being parents. He commented that someday they would finally "get it" and understand why we as parents do what we do and when. One parent asked his how long this takes..he just laughed and said probably not until they are parents themselves...LOL Big help, huh? We all know that there are days...and sometimes more days than we would like to realize, that we wonder why in the world did we want kids??? but at the end of everyday, you look at them and realize God has given you such a wonderful gift, a hard job, but never the less, a gift like no other. So, rest assured that since HE has given you the gift, HE will also give you the strength, patience and all other things needed to raise HIS child.
Have a great day and thank you for keeping the blog going.

Ahhhhh . . . I knew they would fit in well with our family; granted its more similar to the Hill side of the family, but family nonetheless ;-). Hi Uncle George! ;)

I'm so happy for you guys and love to see how you're taking on parenthood as life throws it to ya . . . I've always wanted to adopt (thinking it'd be good to have the husband first though :)) so this has all been very fascinating for me. Can't wait to meet them at the family reunion in August and hear some of these stories in person. Many continued prayers . . .

Love you guys--

well, maybe none of your siblings have seen the principal in grade school, and maybe none of your siblings' kids have seen the principal in grade school, but one of your sibing's GRANDCHILDREN have seen the principal in grade school - - so no biggie. Swearing is better than hitting in my opinion. CERTAINLY better than biting. lol.
